Mentoring
You will be followed up, supported, challenged, inspired and motivated closely and in a safe and trust-based environment by Nina Worren (NO/DK) b. 1971 - visual artist, educator, curator and owner of NW Gallery & The Project Room.
She is working mainly in the fields of photography, video/film, text, and collage—with an especially strong passion for the artist book.
Her work is experimental, practice- and research-based, touching on topics of heritage, intimate relations, emotions, the mind-body connection, identity, and our relationship with nature.
Nina holds an MFA in Photography from the Academy of Art and Design, Valand, in Gothenburg, a
one-year certificate from ICP in New York, and she has studied at Fatamorgana in Copenhagen and
participated in the mentor program of Atelier Smedsby in Paris.
In 2017 she founded NW Gallery & The Project Room—an artist-run, non-profit curatorial platform and process laboratory showing Nordic and international contemporary photography and artist books in site-specific and unique exhibitions. In addition, she also publishes limited-edition artist books at Hippocampus Publishing.
Nina is a member of BKF (Billedkunstnernes Forbund in Danmark), FFF (Forbundet Frie Fotografer in Norway) and a board member of Fotografiens Hus in Oslo.
Heart & soul
Nina has been working in the Art scene of photography for more than 20 years and has a broad network in the nordics as well as internationally. She has been a long time sparring-, collaborative and conversational partner and portfolio reviewer for diverse artists. She has been part of and supported several Acclaimed and Prize winning Photographic Artist Books through workshops, mentoring and reviews.
As an artist, curator and mentor, she is especially interested in personal stories - existential questions, exploring and expressing the nature of being on this planet earth.
She is especially interested in intimate relations, identity, heritage, roles, mind-body connections, mental health and our relationship with nature.
She wants the platforms to be a channel for the silent voices of marginalised topics and people. She is driven by building bridges across borders and making people meet and collaborate.
